Thank you @Brigitte, yes, it is an SSD and that wasn't obvious for version 29 compared to version 28. By deselecting ‘Protect SSD drives from defragmentation' the setting save. The task bar is still showing status not optimal. Not sure what it is related to.

Version 29.1.11203 is out and still not saving settings for automatic defragmentation for my C: disk, which shows the status as not optimal.

O&O support has always been good for me, however, there has been over 10,000 views of the issues related to O&O Defrag 29 and not a single update since its release (apart from the one support version for testing). That is uncharacteristic for O&O.

After I updated to version 29, it stopped showing me the disk fragmentation status when I clicked the icon in system tray. This window does not exit. Additionally, at least for me, the "Show O&O Defrag icon in the task tray" in settings keeps turning off after every couple of restarts. I tick the box, restart and it shows in the task tray, but several restarts later, it's gone and I need to check the box again.
