On Windows 10 1809 much longer defragmentation than on 1607

Beitrag von Milchen » Mo 7. Jan 2019, 12:09

Hello.

I recently switched from Windows 10 LTSB 1607 to Windows 10 LTSC 1809. I noticed that the defragmentation time disk "C" increased from 30min (on 1607) to 45min (on 1809). How is this possible when disk "C" on build 1809 even less full then on 1607? I use the same drivers, programs set, etc. Why is this happening?

Hello,

A longer duration of the defragmentation can have several causes. Changes to the file structure as caused by the Windows upgrade may have led to a longer analysis time. It would be more interesting to compare the degree of fragmentation than the runtime. Ultimately, however, the system is not exactly the same, so it is not advisable to compare the runtimes.
