Crashing Desktop

Beitrag von SightUp » So 15. Dez 2024, 10:39

I reinstalled Windows today and used the app today. This was a fresh install of 24H2. I tested this multiple times as I tried to fix it multiple times with a fresh reinstall. I reinstalled Windows four times today.

I like to minMax for the most amount of FPS and lowest latency. So I turned everything to green. Upon restart anything that was not a Windows application / program when you right clicked on it, you would get a spinning wheel that would never go away. You can do things like hit the start menu and right click on the task bar but pretty much everything else desktop related was frozen even after you restarted the instance via task manager. Even trying to undo everything using the app would not fix the problem. I didn't want to waste too much time diagnosing it so I just reinstalled Windows again.

Any idea what the issue might be?

Hello,

Unfortunately, we have never heard of such a problem. You write that you have set everything to ‘green’. Does this mean that you have only selected ‘Apply only recommended settings’ under ‘Actions’, or have you added further settings?

Please use "recommended settings" for the beginning (green dots only). Adapt your settings later step by step, if you want to enable "yellow" settings. To enable "red" settings is generally not recommendable.

Please generate "system restore point" before applying settings. "Computer protection" must be enabled, otherwise restore point cannot be generated.

Bitte erzeugen Sie einen "Systemwiederherstellungspunkt", bevor Sie die Einstellungen anwenden. Der "Computerschutz" muss aktiviert sein, sonst kann der Wiederherstellungspunkt nicht erzeugt werden.

Please reboot your computer after applying settings. (Reboot - not Shut down and switch on again)
Bitte starten Sie Ihren Computer neu, nachdem Sie die Einstellungen angewendet haben.
(Neustart - nicht Herunterfahren und wieder Einschalten)

Hello RR512,

What are you trying to say with your links on the subject of system protection? They make no sense to me in relation to the problem of "SightUp".

Hello Brigitte,

because SightUp mentioned, that she/he reinstalled windows four times, just a general advice for the use of O&O Shutiup 10. If you have a system restore point, you are able to return to previous state without installing windows again. If system protection is disabled, you are not able to generate system restore point.

Basically I think, that SightUp enabled all settings (green, yellow and red) and that this wrecked her/his windows.
