IntensiveOptimize - cannot find recovery environment
IntensiveOptimize - cannot find recovery environment
When running IntensiveOptimize under versions 27 - 29 (Trial), I receive the following error message: No recovery environment could be found that can be used as a basis for O&O IntensiveOptimize.
Is there any solution? I reset my system (not full erase though).

Re: IntensiveOptimize - cannot find recovery environment
Hello!
For a check whether your recovery environment is working, enter the following command in a administrator command line:
Reagentc /info
If the output of the command shows that the recovery environment is disabled, enter the following command to enable it:
Reagentc /enable
If the output of the first command shows that the recovery environment is enabled, enter the following command to disable it:
Reagentc /disable
Upload screenshots of the output.

Re: IntensiveOptimize - cannot find recovery environment
I've done that. Regagentc /Info shows that it is enabled. I'll try disabling then re-enabling to see if there is a difference.
Re: IntensiveOptimize - cannot find recovery environment
I tried that. I ran it with it disabled, same issue. Re-enabled it and ran again, same issue.
Any other suggestions? I also did a full reset... same issue. I'm thinking of contacting HP to get a full restore

Re: IntensiveOptimize - cannot find recovery environment
Here are the results of reagentc /info
Windows Recovery Environment (Windows RE) and system reset configuration
Information:
Windows RE status: Enabled
Windows RE location: \\?\GLOBALROOT\device\harddisk0\partition4\Recovery\WindowsRE
Boot Configuration Data (BCD) identifier: 505a0a56-7c7a-11ef-9946-e82a44d7489a
Recovery image location:
Recovery image index: 0
Custom image location:
Custom image index: 0
REAGENTC.EXE: Operation Successful.
Whether enabled or disabled, it gives the same result. Also, in the Modern UI, a lot of times the C: drive doesn't show. This is a new installation of Windows, though not a factory reset where the partitions are recreated.

When I get the message, 'Run' will usually be enabled after acknowledging it. I click 'Run' and it boots into the Windows Recovery mode.
Any other suggestions, short of buying a new computer? I find it hard to believe that I'm the only one experiencing this. The thing is, it happens on both of my computers. What might've I done that is causing this?

Re: IntensiveOptimize - cannot find recovery environment
Hi,
Please install our latest support version O&O Defrag 29.0.11114 Professional Edition:
https://www3.oo-software.com/support/pr ... _11114.exe
If the issue does persist, send us the file "ood.log" that you can find in %temp%.

Re: IntensiveOptimize - cannot find recovery environment
On the system I've been working on, I'm no longer getting that message. It boots to the environment but cannot load the defragmentation because it can't find the OODefrag service, and the log file is empty. The issue is still recurring on my laptop so I will upload the log file from there. The system I've been working on is out of warrantee and I cannot get recovery media, and the cloud restore isn't supported by it. It was originally Windows 10, but am running Windows 11 Insider Edition (on both). I believe it worked at one time, initially with v27 in trial but doesn't work with that version now either. I'd installed v29 and was giving it another look before deciding on purchase.
Re: IntensiveOptimize - cannot find recovery environment
Log file is attached for the computer receiving the message about the recovery environment. My other system has a fresh OS installation in progress, so we'll see how that goes.

Re: IntensiveOptimize - cannot find recovery environment
So much for that. With a brand new installation of windows, including formatting the target drive, IntensiveOptimize started, but I receive the message that it cannot connect to O&O Defrag's service.
Re: IntensiveOptimize - cannot find recovery environment
Couldn't see a way to edit my last post.
The service is created and started successfully but when it tries to start OODefragMUI.exe is when it's not able to connect to the service.

Re: IntensiveOptimize - cannot find recovery environment
The system originally reported had the 'Insider Edition' of Windows 11. I bought a Windows 11 Pro key, and installed via recovery - blasting everything away. It works now. My other system has the same issue, and is running the Insider Edition, but there is much more there to deal with losing if I were to do the same thing. Not so much stuff that is installed but having several years of tweaking different system and program settings that there is no way I'm going to remember. The laptop is probably obsolete, not using an SSD drive, but it has 16GB of RAM. The one initially reported on only has 4GB. Regardless of the OS version, I believe it ran with a previous version of OODefrag - probably 27.
